'Summary' shows a small square image alongside your title and description, suited to most articles and pages. 'Summary with Large Image' shows a full-width image above the text, better for visually-driven content. 'App' and 'Player' are specialized types for promoting a mobile app or embedding audio/video, and require additional platform-specific fields beyond what this generator covers.
If no Twitter Card tags are present, X often falls back to using your Open Graph tags where compatible (og:title, og:description, og:image), but adding explicit Twitter Card tags gives you more reliable, predictable control over exactly how the preview appears there.
It's common practice to include both, Open Graph covers Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms, while explicit Twitter Card tags give X a dedicated, reliable preview rather than relying on its Open Graph fallback behavior.
The standard format includes the @ symbol (like @merondis). This tool automatically adds it if you leave it off.
