Structured data is machine-readable markup, in this case JSON-LD, a script tag embedded in your page, that describes your content in a standardized vocabulary (schema.org) search engines understand. It doesn't directly boost rankings, but it can make your page eligible for rich results in search (star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, price and availability), which can improve click-through rate.
schema.org defines hundreds of types with deeply nested optional properties. This generator focuses on four of the most commonly used types for typical websites, Article, Product, LocalBusiness and FAQPage, covering the fields that matter most for each rather than attempting exhaustive coverage of the entire vocabulary.
Paste the entire <script type="application/ld+json">...</script> block anywhere in your page's <head> or <body>, it's not visually rendered, so placement within the visible page doesn't matter.
Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org Validator are the standard tools for checking that your JSON-LD is both valid and eligible for rich results.
No, only fields relevant to your selected schema type are used, fields for other types are simply ignored. Within a type, only the fields you fill in are included in the output.
