GPA is calculated by converting each letter grade to a grade point value (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, and so on), multiplying by that course's credit hours, summing all the results, then dividing by the total credit hours attempted.
For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course gives (4.0×3 + 3.0×4) ÷ (3+4) = 24 ÷ 7 ≈ 3.43 GPA.
This is an unweighted GPA calculator, meaning every course counts equally regardless of difficulty. Some schools use weighted GPA, which gives extra grade points for honors or AP courses, this calculator does not apply that adjustment.
This calculator uses the standard 4.0 scale (A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0), the most common grading scale used by US high schools and colleges.
This tool supports up to 5 courses at a time. For a full semester with more courses, you can calculate in batches and combine the weighted totals manually.
