This tool sends your text to an AI language model, which identifies the key points and generates a condensed summary that preserves the core meaning while significantly reducing length. It's useful for quickly understanding long articles, reports, or documents without reading the entire text.
Rather than running AI requests through our own paid account with usage limits, this tool uses your personal OpenAI API key, sent directly with each request and never stored. This keeps the summarizer completely free to use with no artificial caps, while you only pay OpenAI directly for what you use, often covered by free trial credit for light usage.
Paste in a 900-word news article covering several distinct points, enter your API key, and click Summarize. Since the underlying model generates its own wording each time, the exact sentences will vary between runs, but the system prompt instructs it to return a 3-5 sentence summary capturing the key points, so expect a short paragraph hitting the article's main who/what/why rather than a sentence-by-sentence condensation or a bullet list.
Pasting in very short text (a sentence or two) and expecting a meaningfully shorter summary, there's little to condense from already-brief text, this tool is most useful on longer articles, reports or documents.
Treating the AI-generated summary as a verbatim, guaranteed-accurate substitute for the source, language models can occasionally omit an important nuance or slightly misstate a detail, review the summary against the original for anything you plan to rely on or cite.
Pasting in sensitive or confidential text without considering that it's sent directly to OpenAI's API to generate the response, treat this the same as you would any third-party AI service when it comes to what you paste in.
This keeps the tool free with no usage limits imposed by us. Your key is used only for your request and is never stored or logged on our servers.
Sign up at platform.openai.com and create a key under API Keys in your account settings. New accounts typically receive some free trial credit.
Your text and key are sent directly to OpenAI to generate the response and are not stored by Merondis.
